And it happened to many of my clients.

When I was an apprentice personal trainer in Italy, I assumed that the diet and exercise program I was giving to my clients wasn’t strict enough, long enough, or strenuous enough. Naturally I decided that they simply needed to do them both— harder. So, in desperation I added more cardio sessions and further reduced their food intake. The result? They gained another 2.5 kgs on top of the 10 they had already piled on. . but the gym’s owner was happy! “They’ll be coming here forever and they will be buying weight loss supplements” he said..

My intense efforts failed because they only served to make their SLOW METABOLISM, the true underlying cause of their weight gain, worse. Unbeknownst to me, many of them had a deficiency of thyroid hormone going on in the background. The imbalance only grew worse because the physical stress associated with excessive caloric restriction and overexercising actually increased the negative impact on their thyroid hormone deficiency and further SLOWED their METABOLISM.
